The Australian Communist Party is a Marxist-Leninist organisation that seeks to lead Australia from being a capitalist society to a socialist one. The Party seeks to build the strongest ties with the struggles of the working class and to earn a position of trust and leadership. Members of the ACP are active in their workplaces and communities to best serve all exploited people for the cause of socialism. The ACP is committed to tried and proven tactics of class struggle and practical support and inherits the best traditions of the Australian working class. A socialist Australia will strive to undo the injustices heaped on the Aboriginal peoples of the country. Questions like land rights will never be resolved under capitalism. The ACP is an internationalist party that prioritises the struggles of the Australian working class, by pursuing an independent foreign policy based on solidarity and mutual benefit.
The Communist Party of Australia believes there is a way to overcome Australia’s economic and social problems. To do this it is necessary to change the direction of politics in Australia and, eventually, to replace the capitalist system with a socialist one, we are a party of activists who work in trade unions, peace and environmental groups, solidarity organisations and a variety of other community movements as well as running campaigns in the name of the Communist Party. We strive to develop the Communist Party into a party capable of helping to educate, organise, unite and fight together with all the left, progressive and democratic political forces in building a broad people’s movement with the working class as its core.
The Communist Party of Australia (Marxist–Leninist), is an Australian communist party founded in 1964. The party's origins derived from a split within the Communist Party of Australia (CPA), stemming from the Sino-Soviet split. The party describes its ideology as being influenced by the works of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong and Ted Hill. The party adheres to what it calls the "iceberg principle": A few members are seen and are open about their membership to allow the organisation to be accessible to the working class, while the membership of the majority remains largely unknown, it is revealed appropriately as their workplace, community and personal circumstances demand.
Red Ant is a small group of activists who share a perspective of socialism and internationalist Marxism. We believe that capitalism is a failed system and must be overthrown by a revolutionary movement based on the power of the working class. A successful revolutionary movement in a rich country like Australia must be founded on an outlook and practice of anti-imperialism. The world is starkly polarised between a small group of rich countries and the vast majority of societies that comprise the Global South, including many poorer former socialist countries. The rich countries continuously struggle to maintain not only their own individual country’s capacity to exploit, but the existing structures of global divide and exploitation. It is these rich countries, that economically dominate the global capitalist economy, benefit from the exploitation of the poor countries and endeavour to maintain this global status quo, which are the true imperialist societies today.
The Revolutionary Communist Organization is a Communist pre-party fighting group who seek to regroup militants to construct a mass workers party that can arm the class for the final confrontation with the Capitalist system. Drawn from a variety of political backgrounds and experiences, we are unified by our iron-clad determination to resist the capitalist system and to unify with proletarian resistance wherever it appears. We are communists. The capitalist mode of production has brought humanity to the brink of catastrophe. Only the communist movement - the real movement to abolish the present conditions of life and secure a society without the state, markets, classes or money - can save humanity from the tyranny, hunger, poverty, despair, boredom and anxiety of capitalist existence. We are committed communists, influenced by the vital and critical tradition within Marxism. We are fighting for a revolutionary party, a communist party that can place social, economic, and political struggles on the offensive against capital and the state.
SEARCH advocates for a democratic and ecologically socialist Australia, while working towards achieving greater democracy, economic and social equality, environmental sustainability, human rights, and international peace and cooperation. We aim to provide a space where the diversity of the Australian Left can come together to debate ideas, share knowledge and build solidarity. We run events and forums, socialist education programs, publish reports and articles and promote activism through our member-led working groups. We also partner with like-minded organisations and campaigns to help build movements and institutions that can meet our objectives.
Socialist Alliance stands for socialism — a democratic society run by and for working people, not the greedy, destructive capitalist elite that now rules. We put people and the planet before profit, the millions before the billionaires. We believe that a society based on this principle is entirely realistic, and necessary if humanity and the planet are to survive. We believe that in order to bring about such a society, we have to replace the institutions that protect and defend this ruling elite (such as parliament, government administration, police and the military) with institutions under the democratic control of ordinary people. In other words we need revolutionary change, brought about with the active participation of the majority of people.
Socialist Alternative is a revolutionary Marxist organisation. We stand for the overthrow of capitalism and the construction of a world socialist system. By socialism we mean a system in which society is democratically controlled by the working class and the productive resources of society are channelled to abolishing class divisions. Only socialism can rid the world of poverty and inequality, stop imperialist wars, end oppression and exploitation, save the environment from destruction and provide the conditions for the full realisation of human creative potential. A system under the democratic control of the working class is the only basis for establishing a classless, prosperous, sustainable society based on the principle “from each according to their ability, to each according to their need”.
The Socialist Equality Party is the Australian section of the International Committee of the Fourth International, the World Party of Socialist Revolution founded by Leon Trotsky in 1938. The principles of the SEP incorporate the lessons of the strategic experiences of the international working class throughout the 20th century and of the struggle waged by Marxists for the program of world socialist revolution. The program of the Socialist Equality Party expresses the interests of the working class, the leading and decisive international revolutionary social force in modern capitalist society. The central task of the SEP is to win the support of Australian workers for the program of international socialism. The SEP strives, on the basis of this program, to unify and mobilise the working class for the conquest of political power and the establishment of a workers’ state in Australia. In doing so, it will create the objective preconditions for the development of a genuinely democratic, egalitarian and socialist society.
Solidarity is a socialist group that is opposed to the madness of capitalism, which is plunging us into global recession and misery at the same time as wrecking the planet’s future. We are taking the first steps towards building an organisation that can help lead the fight for an alternative system based on mass democratic planning, in the interests of human need not profit. We stand for socialism, a society that would be based on democratically elected workers councils which control and plan the economy to produce for human need and environmental sustainability. We believe that authoritarian states like the USSR/Russia and China were not socialist but a form of state capitalism where workers had no control over society and were denied even basic rights.
